The Taste

The Taste 2012

Labor Day Weekend is the last three day weekend signaling the end of summer and the beginning of fall. Could there be a better time to celebrate all things food? Amazing restaurants, fabulous food, and some of the most influential chefs behind the Los Angeles food scene will be present at this weekend's The Taste. We are looking forward to this year's event and of course eating, drinking and attending wine seminars and cooking demos. There is something for everyone to enjoy and indulge in. Hope to see you there!

Ice Cream Cupcakes

Summer is around the corner and what better way to enjoy the warmer days than with a cold scoop of ice cream with all of the toppings and a fun umbrella? Serving ice cream in a cupcake liner is the great way to prep for a party or to transport to another location such as the park or even work. This saves time and is great for clean up. Since the ice cream is already pre-scooped you don't have to fuss with it later or worry about the ice cream sitting out on the table melting. The aluminum cups double as a serving dish so that's one less dish or bowl that you have to clean up.

Chocolate Dipped Caramel Biscotti

Chocolate Dipped Caramel Biscotti: caramel bits are mixed in to the dough, baked twice and then dipped in dark chocolate and sprinkled with coarse sea salt. The dark chocolate and sea salt helps cut the sweetness from the caramel and it enhances the flavor of the cookie. Caramel, dark chocolate and sea salt is a combination that never disappoints.

Scalloped Potatoes

Thinly sliced Yukon Gold Potatoes are layered in a baking dish, sprinkled with salt, pepper, cheddar and jack cheese and then another layer of potatoes, seasonings and cheese. Heavy cream and butter is then poured on top of the potatoes and then baked. The potatoes are like a blank canvas, absorbing all the luscious creaminess from the cream and the butter and cheese adds a savory bite to the dish.
